Levana Session: Writing, as the Moonlight Grows in Sh'vat

Mon Jan 10, 2022 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST

Online, Zoom

Description

We have entered the month of Sh'vat, slowly emerging from the extended darkness, moving towards times of light and the fertile earth. This waystation may be chilly, and it leads us to nature renewing itself around us. As it does, we contemplate our own natures, in community. We gather together online (on Zoom), for moments of ritual and writing, to lower the hum of modern life, to tune into the cycles of the moon and its phases, to explore bright light in the darkness, and to hear our own, lone artistic voices.

In this Session: We will begin with a communal ritual and creative prompts, focused on the promise of Sh'vat, the fifth Hebrew month of the year. And then, you will write. You will write alone, but together. We will reconvene, and those who wish to will share their work, and we will give each other supportive and useful feedback. We will then close with a ritual, and wish each other a sweet new year as each participant renews their creative path.

More Classes! Briya Project will be holding monthly Levana Sessions during the Hebrew Year 5782, in the time between the new and full moons. We are also holding weekly class series to amplify creative voices within a Jewish frame, as well as quarterly classes tied to the movements of the sun, or Tekufa, on the solstices and equinoxes. Please see our website for more information about all our offerings!

About Pricing: We offer tiered pricing for classes, in the hopes that we can meet the needs of all who wish to participate. We trust that you will consider that fees for these classes enable us to operate, and thank you for selecting the highest tier you are able to pay.

This Levana Session is facilitated by Talia Werber, Briya Project's Founder and Instructor. Talia is a writer, storyteller, visual artist, mediator, facilitator, and incoming rabbinical student at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. She looks forward to writing, sharing, and growing together.
