Folk Club with Morag Butler and Chan Reid (Concert)

Hosted by Morag Butler of Rossyln Court Margate, is a mix of floor spots, special guests and a Q&A at the end. If you’re new to the Folk Club format – a floor spot is similar to an ‘open mic’ -without the microphone. All performances are acoustic and audiences are very encouraging and supportive. Leave a note for Morag at the Sailing Club if you would like to take part. You don’t have to be a member.

Today Morag is joined by special guest  Chan Reid

Award-winning Sean nos (“old style”) singer and fiddle player, raised on traditional music in Ireland. Now based in Hastings, Chan is part of acclaimed folk duo line ups “Bold Reilly” and “The Fox In The Reeds” as well as a sought-after session host and voice workshop leader.  Chan has recently completed several documentaries for Irish language television, singing in her native Irish language and playing Irish fiddle. Chan leads unaccompanied and harmony singing workshops all over the UK, Scotland and Ireland and is a teacher of Irish fiddle and concertina, composer and arranger.

Chan will be supported by Aisling.

About the Venue:- The lovely Sailing Club, where you get up close and personal with some of our guests with fantastic views over Viking Bay, hosts some of our most popular events.

Refreshments: Bar, teas, coffees, snacks and breakfasts.

Accessibility: The sailing club is accessed by very steep stairs, There is a small alternative entrance at the side but on a slope.   There are several public car parks close by.
