Family Ceilidh with The Doug Hudson Band (Caller Krista Bubble) ( Dance / Family)

The Doug Hudson Band (formerly Hot Rats) features dazzling young fiddle player Matthew English who, at twenty years of age, is already attracting a big following both here and abroad.

As well as concert and festival appearances, DHB, are also a formidable ceilidh/barn dance band provided driving dance tunes with Scott Kirk's inventive bass lines enhancing Doug's rhythmic guitar and Matthew's flamboyant fiddle. Calling wise, Doug has taught over a quarter of a million foreign students to barn dance as well as performing and calling in Russian and French in both of those respective countries.

Caller for this Ceilidh is Krista Bubble

Krista Bubble has been dancing at ceilidhs since a child and playing for ceilidhs since a teen, so it seemed only natural for her to start calling four years ago, while trying to diversify in a post-pandemic folk world. Since then, she has honed her calling skills here at the festival as well as for local language school ceilidhs. She is also caller for Broadstairs Folk Week’s Award-Winning Dementia Friendly Ceilidh (Gentle Ceilidh) which is now in its fourth year. Krista’s calling style is fun, warm & inclusive.

About the Venue: The Pavilion is an excellent venue for bands with a mix of seating and standing space. Garden space also has free performances during the afternoon.
