Don't know your Blackbird from your Blackcap? Celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day with us at Broken Bridges Nature Reserve! We'll share our birdsong knowledge including tips for remembering the calls and songs of different species. We can't guarantee wildlife (as it's wild!), but will likely hear and see a variety of birds along the way, including possibly Blue Tit, Great Tit, Wren, Chiffchaff, Nuthatch, Blackbird, Song Thrush and more!

Who is it for?

This event is suitable for anyone interested in wildlife and wellbeing who wants to spend time in nature with others, learning new things. We value diversity, and hope to create a community that reflects the breadth of people in our society. Please share any medical, mobility or other needs on booking, so we can plan activities that are suitable for all.

Where?

We're anticipating this event will be popular, and so are planning 2 groups which will start simultaneously at either end of the reserve. Please respect the local residents. Arrive on foot or by cycle if possible.

Bemerton side - meeting near 42 Lower Rd, Salisbury, SP2 9NQ

Harnham side - meeting near 2 Upper St, Salisbury SP2 8LT

The path is rough and narrow in places. Total distance roughly 1.5 miles.

FAQs

Do we go ahead in the rain?

We believe in getting out whatever the weather! Please assume the session is going ahead unless you hear otherwise by email the day before. We may postpone if the weather forecast is really wet/stormy, but will go ahead in most weathers e.g. light rain, showers. Always check the weather forecast and dress for the weather.

Why can't I bring my dog?

Guide dogs are welcome but no other dogs please. This is because wildlife is likely to be disturbed by the presence of dogs.

What if I'm late?

Please aim to arrive ready to start at the start time. We'll head off onto the reserve soon after - we will stop frequently to listen to and watch birds, so you'll probably catch us up easily if you're late.
