The next meeting of the Oratory Young Adults' Group (for ages 18-35) will take place on Thursday 27th January 2022 in St Wilfrid's Hall at the Oratory.
Doors will open at around 7.45pm, with a talk at 8pm given by Peter D. Williams, Catholic Writer and Apologist
Talk Summary: What are Indulgences? Are they still given by the Church? If so, can they be bought? How are they relevant today?
The Catholic practice of remitting temporal punishment for sin through indulgences for pious works is often misunderstood, if it is known about at all, but it is still an integral part of Catholic spirituality and practice.
On Thursday night, Catholic Apologist Peter D. Williams will explain to the Oratory’s Call to Youth Group (18-35) the Catholic doctrine of Indulgences, including the important implications of gaining these gracious extensions of divine mercy for the spiritual lives of individual Catholics, and as an act of charity for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
After the talk, there will be some time for questions and discussion, concluding at around 9pm. Thereafter, for those who wish to stay, there will be refreshments available (wine, soft drinks and snacks) in St Joseph's Hall, which is downstairs from St Wilfrid's Hall, on the ground floor. This will conclude at around 10pm.
