The Open V by Brothers of Fire

The Open, run by the Brothers of Fire of UK Old School Magic, returns in London for its fifth incarnation on 27th June 2026.

Gather with us at an idyllic canalside venue in East London to decide the new UK champion of Old School (and, just as importantly, enjoy turning cardboard together over a few drinks).

Last year, Swedish giant Svante took the trophy after a thrilling final against Brother Jonas. Who will take the crown this year?

Entry fee is £15, including a giveaway on the day. Registration begins at midday sharp, with play commencing thirty minutes later - also sharp.

All profits from the event will go to our partner cat charity. We would like to thank LVLS, our host venue, for their generous support of us in this aim.

We will be running a charity raffle and selling tickets. Please bring items for the raffle!

Although the coveted Open Trophy is up for grabs, the Brothers of Fire play philosophy is still in full effect - this means we avoid overly-competitive playing and frown upon gamesmanship, slow play, etc. We are all here to have fun.

• Swedish B&R (if you don't know what this means, Google it or ask us)
• We have a liberal reprint policy, following standard UK rules (i.e. nearly any non-foil old-frame card is legal - including Revised, Fourth and Fifth edition, and Timeshifted cards with the original frame and art).
• All proxies, Cards in the 'new' frame, gold-bordered cards, foils, M30 cards, Collectors' Edition cards, and International Collectors' Edition cards are NOT legal for this event. However, you are welcome to play all of these cards in casual games afterwards.
• The winner receives a trophy
• There will be a spice/sportsmanship prize of a signed card
