Film Synopsis:

What do you do when your neighbour goes completely wild?

Award-winning director James Dawson’s new documentary is set in the rolling hills of Devon, telling the story of two neighbouring farmers who share the same name but take radically different approaches to land use.

In equal parts hilarious and moving, the film shines a light on the vital debate surrounding the future of rural Britain, encouraging conversation around how farming and nature restoration might work together.

“Engagingly eccentric crowd-pleaser” - Screen Daily

“Hilarious while at the same time being empathetic and incredibly powerful” - Isabella Tree

About Broughton Sanctuary

Broughton Sanctuary is rewriting the story of nature recovery through one of the UK’s most ambitious and holistic rewilding projects. Since 2021, we have been transforming this historic 1030 ha (app. 2500 acres) landscape - once intensively managed farmland - into a thriving mosaic of woodlands, meadows, and wetlands.

Across 80% of the land, we have reintroduced beavers, rare breed livestock, and hundreds of thousands of native trees, while continuing to produce food in ways that support soil health, biodiversity, and long-term ecological resilience (intensive farming continues on some of the rest of our land under grazing licences and long term tenancy agreements). As wildlife returns and communities reconnect with the land, we are guided by science, collaboration, and care, building towards our vision where all of nature, human and non-human, can flourish together.

In our commitment to fostering and deepening this nature connectedness, we are delighted to offer a range of free community events throughout the year that invite you to join us on this incredible journey. These events are designed to inspire, refresh, and ignite your curiosity - providing an opportunity for everyone in our local community to come together.
