Join Deborah Hedgecock, Curator at Bruce Castle Museum, as she explores the many rich and diverse LGBTQ+ stories from Wood Green’s past and present, from organised resistance to the infamous Section 28 at Reading Matters bookshop, to hopping on the Piccadilly line for a pride filled night out in Soho! Starting and ending at two important rallying points for LGBTQ+ activism (the Civic Centre and Duckett’s Common) on this walk you’ll discover incredible tales of community solidarity, activism, and celebration.
We want to hear from the community, so please bring your own stories along for this special walk!
Starts: Outside Civic Centre, 255 High Road, meet at 10.45am for an 11am start. The Civic Centre is opposite Crescent Gardens. 'Haringey Civic Centre' stop BP for bus routes 121, 141, 232, 329, 629, W4. Nearest tube station is Wood Green.
Ends: Duckett’s Common
Dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes for walking.
