🌿 Nature School for Grownups – Back to School! Fall Foraging Journey (4 Sessions) - Bridgend Farmhouse
A small-group nature-based experience to help you reconnect with the outdoors, learn practical foraging skills, and follow the changing season into autumn.
🍂 What This Is
A 4-session outdoor series designed to help you get to know a handful of common autumn plants and berries — through direct experience, not just theory.
Each session is 2 hours and follows a similar rhythm:
- we begin with a simple, low-pressure game to help everyone settle in
- we focus on one seasonal plant or tree — how to identify it, where to find it, how to harvest it responsibly, and how people have traditionally used it
- we forage together and turn what we find into a simple preparation
- we make time for nature connection, questions, conversation, and a chance to connect outdoors together
Across the 4 sessions, we’ll follow the autumn landscape through plants such as rowan, elderberry, hawthorn and rosehip.
Depending on what the season is doing, the exact plants may shift slightly — wild food doesn’t always follow our calendars! Each week we’ll work with something that is abundant, appropriate to harvest, and in season at the time.
By the end of the journey, you’ll:
- feel more confident identifying a small number of autumn berries, trees and useful plants
- understand some of the key safety and processing steps involved in wild food
- explore different ways to preserve and prepare autumn harvests
- leave with your own notes and a simple preparation from each session
- build a stronger sense of how to forage thoughtfully, rather than simply memorizing individual plants
This series is beginner-friendly and designed to be welcoming and accessible — no prior experience with foraging, herbalism or bushcraft is needed.
The sessions work best as a full journey, as each week builds on the last, but single sessions are also available if you’d like to try one out.
👥 Small Group
Sessions are capped at 15 people to keep things relaxed, participatory and personal.
Many people come alone — you’ll be welcomed either way.
