Some evenings just feel like the High Country at its best. Long summer light, crisp mountain air, time with treasured community, and a table full of food worth savoring. That's what we're building on August 23rd!

A Savory Shindig is BRWIA's annual fundraiser and our favorite night of the year. It's the evening where the local food lovers, artists, and community leaders get to slow down, break bread together, and celebrate our incredible local food system. And this year, we couldn't be more excited about what we have in store! 

The Evening Includes

• A Sunday Supper by Reid's Cafe & Catering Co:  The James Beard-nominated team at Reid's Cafe & Catering Co has crafted a menu that tastes exactly like an Appalachian August. The evening opens with Appalachian charcuterie before sitting down to a seasonal dinner built around the best of the summer harvest.  Think pickled peaches, blistered corn, and a sorghum banana pudding to finish. And that's just a taste of what's in store.

• Community Soup: One of our most cherished Shindig traditions. Bring a vegetable from your garden, the farmers market, your CSA, or the High Country Food Hub, and it becomes part of something bigger: a soup that captures the flavors of the evening, prepared by Iona Jones of Sweetwater Supper Club. The finished soup will be available for purchase through the High Country Food Hub

• Live Music from Belleville Rendezvous: A vocally-driven, multi-instrumental trio who know how to set a mood.

• Community Art with Green Eyes Dye Studio: Kelly Pierson will guide guests through a collective hammer-dyeing experience, creating a shared tapestry from locally grown flowers.

• Silent Auction: Bid on handcrafted pieces from local artists across the High Country. 

• Local Libations: Craft beverages from Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Linville Falls Winery.

This is the evening we look forward to all year!  Every ticket goes directly toward sustaining BRWIA's work in the High Country. We hope you'll join us.

General Admission — $120

Your ticket includes the full Shindig experience: Tina Houston's Sunday Supper, Appalachian Charcuterie, live music, a collaborative community art experience, a chance to contribute to our community soup, silent auction, and two drink tickets redeemable at Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Linville Falls Winery — plus a craft seasonal mocktail. Every dollar supports BRWIA's programs across the High Country.

Reserve a Table — $1,200

The best way to experience the Shindig. Reserved tables seat 8 guests and are perfect for businesses, families, or groups who want to celebrate together. Everyone at your table will enjoy all the perks of General Admission, plus the comfort of having a dedicated table in some of the best seats in the house. After purchase, Lily Lipford will follow up with the ticket holder via email to collect guest information for your table.
