Meet the authors: Hate Crime Perpetrators
Thursday 26 January 2025, 1:00–2:00 pm GMT (online)
Join us for a presentation + Q&A on the two volumes Hate Crime Perpetrators: New Perspectives from Theory, Research and Practice (Vol. I & II).
These volumes, edited by Jon Garland, Irene Zempi, and Jo Smith, offer cutting-edge scholarship on hate crime offending, from exploring offender profiles and motivations (Vol. I) to legal, policy, and practice responses in online and offline settings (Vol. II).
About the editors:
-
Jon Garland is Professor of Criminology, University of Surrey
-
Irene Zempi is Associate Professor at Nottingham Trent University
-
Jo Smith is Senior Lecturer / researcher at University of Brighton
What the volumes cover
-
Volume I focuses on offender profiles and motivations, including chapters on reoffending, online hate perpetration, disablist and transphobic offending, and the everyday nature of hate relationships.
-
Volume II turns to responses and interventions, exploring how hate crime is regulated and mitigated in both online and offline domains.
During the session, the editors and selected chapter authors will present key insights and answer audience questions about the book. Whether you’re a researcher, practitioner, student, or interested in understanding the dynamics of hate offending, we invite you to attend this event.
