Walking the Chan Path: Lineage, Meditation and Practice
Multiple dates and times
Online, Zoom
Description
Join us for another online gathering with Chan (Chinese Zen) Buddhist monastics Yan Qing Fashi and Yan Bao Fashi from the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist lineage.
This 90-minute Saturday morning series will begin by exploring the roots of Chan Buddhism within the Dharma Drum lineage, examining what Chan is and how its teachings remain relevant today. In later sessions, we’ll look at the foundations of Chan meditation, including the stages of regulating the mind and understanding meditation progress. Finally, we’ll discuss integrating Chan into daily life, covering ways to manage emotions, stress, and the demands of a busy world with Chan practice.
Each session will follow a familiar structure: guided movement and meditation, a teaching on the day’s topic by one of the monastics, and a chance for Q&A and open discussion. Whether you’re new to Chan or a seasoned practitioner, this is a welcoming space to connect, ask questions, and practice with others.
The event is offered freely, though donations are welcome.
This is an online event. Please register once to receive the Zoom link, which will be used for each session.
