𦴠Bugs, Bones & Botany CIC πΏ
Science for curious minds, muddy hands and people who like asking why?
Bugs, Bones & Botany CIC is all about getting properly hands-on with science and the natural world.
We explore everything from bones, bodies and forensic science to bugs, fossils, plants, wildlife and woodland ecology, using real specimens, models, microscopes, experiments, practical activities and plenty of opportunities to investigate things for yourself.
There might be a skull on the table, something wriggling under a microscope, a mystery to solve, mud being enthusiastically mixed in the woods, or a fire crackling outside. Quite often, several of those things happen at once.
π¬ Things we love exploring include:
𦴠Human & animal anatomy and osteology
π Forensic science & facial reconstruction
π Investigation, evidence and scientific problem-solving
πΊ Archaeology and the human past
πͺ² Ecology, wildlife and natural history
π¦ Fossils, evolution and prehistoric life
π± Plants, habitats and conservation
π¬ Microscopy, experiments and practical science
Sessions are led by a qualified osteologist, forensic investigator and Forest School Leader, bringing together experience in human osteology, forensic investigation, archaeology, ecology, healthcare and outdoor education.
We work with children, families, home educators, schools, community groups and adults, with activities adapted around different ages, interests and ways of learning.
Our programme includes science and anatomy workshops, forensic facial reconstruction, Science Forest School, home education sessions, holiday activities and events for adults, with new curiosities regularly finding their way onto the calendar.
π³ Science Forest School
Our Science Forest School takes science out of the classroom and lets curiosity lead the way.
Sessions combine the child-led freedom, creativity and play of Forest School with ecology, wildlife, practical skills and scientific investigation. Children can follow their interests, explore at their own pace, get muddy, make things, investigate discoveries and develop confidence in the outdoors.
Sometimes the best learning starts with finding something strange under a log and asking:
βWhatβs THAT?β
From bugs and bones to microscopes and campfires, we believe learning should be practical, inclusive, fascinating, curiosity-led and genuinely fun.
Come curious. Leave with questions. ππ¦΄π¬πΏπ₯
