Facial Reconstruction Workshop

Following a huge amount of interest following our adult workshops, Bugs, Bones & Botany CIC is excited to announce a Facial Reconstruction Workshop for kids. From 7-17 years.

Surrounded by nature at Dorset Falconry Park, this workshop will be held in the park's cosy café, giving you the chance to enjoy an afternoon of hands-on forensic science.

These relaxed, hands-on workshops explore how faces can be reconstructed from skeletal remains using a combination of anatomy, osteology, forensic science, archaeology and artistic interpretation.

Perfect for anyone interested in:

  • anatomy and bones
  • creating and making
  • mysteries and investigations
  • learning something new and unusual!

No previous experience is needed, just curiosity and an open mind.

During the afternoon we’ll explore, through a short presentation and guided discussion:

  • how skulls help shape a face
  • tissue depth and facial structure
  • the history and science behind reconstruction
  • how experts rebuild faces from skeletal remains
  • fascinating real-world examples and case studies

Expect a relaxed atmosphere, small group sizes, plenty of water, squash and biscuits and lots of opportunity for questions and conversation throughout the afternoon.
