About the course

This course covers all of the basics – from how and why we should think about accessibility, through to auditing a site and making recommendations.

A major element of the day is practical: you will practice by analysing real websites for basic accessibility.

It’s fun, it’s interactive and you will meet interesting people to exchange ideas and experiences with!

What will you learn?

  • The need for and benefits of accessible websites
  • The people affected by accessibility
  • Assistive technologies used by people with access needs
  • Introduction to accessibility guidelines and standards (including WCAG 2.1)
  • The legal position of accessibility and how to make sure your designs abide by the law!
  • How to assess and test for basic accessibility
  • How to produce accessible content and html components

After completing the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the access needs of your users
  • Understand the legal position of accessibility
  • Be able to specify the required level of accessibility for your website with confidence
  • Test your website to check if it meets basic accessibility requirements
  • Produce content that is accessible

About the trainer

John Goodall - Consultant

John has over 18 years’ experience in usability, eCommerce, digital marketing and user-centred design. He delivers several of Bunnyfoot’s training courses, including Rapid Prototyping with Axure, Practical Accessibility, and the Certified Professional for Usability & User Experience (CPUX-F) course. John has been Head Judge for the UXUK Awards for the last four years and has compered the awards ceremony since 2016.
