14th Annual Roots of Prevention Community Awards Celebration

The Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community invites you to attend our annual Roots of Prevention Award Celebration to honor the outstanding contributions of the awardees below to support a safe and healthy place in which we all can live, work, and thrive!

Please join us Thursday, May 16th at Contois Auditorium in Burlington City Hall as we gather with neighbors over food, listen to our guest speakers, and of course celebrate our community changemakers! 

Opening Welcome: Burlington Mayor, Emma Mulvaney-Stanak

Keynote Speakers:  Cam Lauf, Turning Point Recovery Center Executive Director & Mariah Flynn, Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community Coalition Director

Storyteller: Ferene Paris, All Heart Inspirations

Join us in congratulating this year's award recipients:

DG Weaver Award - Angela Halsted, Edmunds Middle School Student Assistance Program Counselor

Outstanding Individual Award - Barbara Tyler,  Resident Engagement Volunteer at Laurentide affordable housing

Outstanding Individual Award - Dr. L.E. Faricy, MD, FAAP, Pediatric Pulmonologist at UVM Children's Hospital

Outstanding Program Award - Community Response Team, Burlington Fire Department

Youth and Families Award - Mukhtar Abdullahi, Burlington High School Soccer Coach

Doors open for check in and dinner at 5:15pm. The program will start at 6pm and wrap up by 8pm with additional time to mingle and re-connect with neighbors, colleagues, and friends. We will be joined by local artist, Nicole Christman, who will engage attendees in a collaborative artistic piece for this year's theme; Unity Through Community.

This event is free and open to anyone! 

We encourage anyone who is able to contribute with a suggested donation of $10 or more to do so to help us keep this event free for our community. We accept cash and checks at the event or you can use our online donation portal at the link below.
