Burren Winterage Weekend 2026
Burren Winterage Weekend 2026
Welcome to Burren Winterage Weekend 2026, which is taking place in Fanore. Join us to celebrate the unique farming traditions of the Burren and other ‘high nature value’ farming landscapes across Ireland, and to share ideas on how we can all engage with and take action for our landscapes.
Burren Winterage Weekend is a celebration of the Burren's farming tradition of Winterage. Enjoy a wide range of farming, heritage, cultural and family events around the October Bank Holiday weekend each year. Winterage Weekend is coordinated by Burrenbeo Trust - a landscape charity that does not receive any core funding. There are many ways you can support us - please visit burrenbeo.com for details.
More information on specific events is available here. Tickets are non-refundable. If ticket pricing is a barrier to your attendance, please email info@burrenbeo.com in advance.
This year we are encouraging visitors to travel to the Winterage Cattle Drive via our specially arranged free shuttle buses. Fanore has limited parking and is not equipped for high levels of traffic, so taking the bus helps us reduce congestion and makes your day easier too. Buses run from Lisdoonvarna and Ballyvaughan at multiple times throughout the day, with return buses from Fanore after the event. There is ample free parking in Lisdoonvarna and Ballyvaughan. When booking, please select the ticket option for your preferred bus departure time to reserve your place. If you do need to drive, please car-share where possible to reduce the number of vehicles travelling to Fanore.
Under-18s may attend Burrenbeo events free of charge but must be accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Advance booking is essential for all U-18 attendees. When booking, please indicate the number of under-18s attending during checkout.
Winterage Weekend is coordinated by Burrenbeo Trust, with support this year from ACRES Burren Aran Co-operation Project, FBD Insurance, The Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark, Burren Ecotourism Network, and the National Parks and Wildlife Service. The Winterage School and Burren Food Fayre are funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.
