Join Chester Business Book Club for our September session, where we'll be discussing one of the best-selling business books of all time: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.
First published in 1989, Covey's book has sold over 25 million copies and remains a fixture on leadership reading lists three decades on. Its central argument is that lasting effectiveness comes not from technique or personality, but from character. Covey structures the seven habits around a journey from dependence to independence to interdependence, moving through personal mastery, prioritisation, and collaborative leadership.
We'll be exploring what the framework actually offers the owner-managed business leader in 2026. Does the principle-centred approach hold up under scrutiny, or has it aged into motivational wallpaper? Where does the model genuinely help, and where does it fall short? As always, the evening is designed around discussion rather than summary, so come prepared with a view.
The session is open to business owners, senior leaders, and professionals with an interest in management thinking. You do not need to have read the book in full to contribute, though you'll get more from it if you have.
Tickets are £10 per person. One ticket per order. Surplus funds are donated to charity.
