Youth Ecology Art | 3 Day Camp - Samhain: Ecologies of the In-Between

Samhain marks the point in the Celtic calendar when the boundaries between worlds are said to grow thin. This Halloween, Youth Ecology Art explores the hidden ecologies that emerge in these in-between spaces; beneath the soil, inside decaying wood, after dark, and beyond what we usually notice.

Working with natural pigments, fabric, microscopy, collage, sound and experimental map-making, we'll investigate decomposition, fungi, nocturnal life, underground networks and imagined landscapes.

Together we'll create artworks inspired by the strange, beautiful systems that quietly recycle, transform and sustain life.

Day One — Into the Understory

Follow the hidden lives of fungi, roots, insects and decomposers, gathering ideas through observation, microscopy and field sketches & grow your own fungi in a petridish!

Day Two — Mapping the Unseen

Create speculative maps of underground worlds using charcoal, collage, pigments, sound and layered imagery.

Day Three — Transformation

Bring everything together into a collaborative installation inspired by the ecology of change, decay and renewal & viewing you petridish-fungi-art under UV light!
