Learn the art of Intaglio printmaking at Butler Gallery with artist Anne McDonnell. Inspired by Mildred Anne Butler’s High Court of Justice, an atmospheric work depicting a gathering of ravens in a tree, this one-day masterclass invites participants to explore imagery inspired by the darker, more mysterious side of the natural world.
Throughout the one-day masterclass, participants will take an experimental approach to drypoint printmaking, experimenting with scribing into aluminium before adding colour with Chine collé. The class will begin with a demonstration and a chat about the printmaking processes, preparing sketches for the plate and the workings of the etching press.

DRYPOINT in use from the late 15th century early 16th century by German Artist Albrecht Durer this is part of the intaglio family in which an image is incised into a plate with an etching needle/scriber.
