Butler Gallery Celebrates International Women's Day and Peggy Butler

To celebrate International Women's Day, Butler Gallery in association with Kilkenny Rotary Club, invite you to a special tour of Butler Gallery's 80th Anniversary Collection Exhibition. The tour will recognise the very special role of Susan Margaret Butler in the history of the Gallery. Peggy, as she was popularly known, was a founding member and a driving force behind the management of the Kilkenny Art Gallery Society. She steadfastly steered the gallery through its early years, using her wit and artistic training. Kilkenny Art Gallery Society was renamed Butler Gallery in her honour in the 1970s upon moving into Kilkenny Castle, which was home to Butler Gallery until the Gallery relocated to Evans' Home in 2020. The tour will be given by Anna O'Sullivan, Exhibition Curator and Director of Butler Gallery.

10.00am: Coffee and breakfast pastries buffet will be served in MUSE Café.
10.30 - 11.15am: Tour of our 80^th Anniversary Collection Exhibition in celebration of Peggy Butler, with Anna O'Sullivan.

This is a free event but donations are welcome. Donations in aid of Amber Kilkenny Women's Refuge.
