Andy Burnham, Britain’s new Prime Minister, has promised a break with politics as usual, but restoring public trust will require more than a change of leadership. How do we finally clean up politics?
At 7 pm, 3 September, Bylines Network brings together leading voices from politics, law, journalism and democratic reform to ask what a genuine political clean-up would look like. We’ll discuss standards in public life, hidden influence, political finance, media accountability, constitutional reform and the transfer of power away from Westminster.

Chaired by Dr Mike Galsworthy – a scientist and campaigner, champion of democratic renewal, and co-founder of the Bylines Network – our panel includes:
- Dr Christina Pagel – public health expert translating evidence into accountable public decision-making, developer of the Trump Action Tracker.
- Gina Miller – fearless transparency campaigner defending parliamentary sovereignty, accountability and democratic standards.
- Neal Lawson – cross-party democratic reformer building alliances for progressive, pluralist political change.
- Dominic Grieve KC – former Attorney General bringing constitutional authority, integrity and principled independence.

The event will last 75 minutes, starting with a panel discussion and including time for an audience Q&A towards the end. There will be interactive polls, and the Zoom chat will be open so everyone attending can join in the discussion.
