We're really excited to welcome the Book and Bucket Cheese Company to Cabinet Rooms for A Taste of Winchester, a week-long celebration of food and drink in the city.

Once you've got yourself settled and enjoyed a little glass of Prosecco on arrival, you'll have a guided tasting of a selection of Book and Bucket's cheeses paired with our delicious wines.

About the Book and Bucket Cheese Company

The Book & Bucket Cheese Company hand make artisan cheese in the heart of Dorset. Made using sheep and cow’s milk, we have a range of award winning cheeses, with our signature sheep milk brie, Shakespeare, winning a coveted World Cheese Gold Award.

The Book & Bucket Cheese Company was founded 5 years ago by Peter Morgan. When Peter began making cheese, he sought the advice of people that had between them over 120 years experience in the industry. They each said the starting point was to buy some books and read as much as possible. After that it is just “bucket science” and to keep playing until you make something you like! In January 2019, with a bucket full of recipes, many ideas and with the help of friends, Peter launched the Book and Bucket Cheese Company.

Our range of cheese includes highlights such as Hardy’s, our Manchego style hard cheese which has a depth and complexity that deepens as it ages, resulting in an almost fudge like taste. Cranborne Blue is our creamy, gentle blue cheese. Wilde is our soft cheese made using foraged wild garlic leaves and Smoked Wordsworth is our mellow smooth Gouda style cheese which is smoked over Dorset oak chips, producing a wonderful cheese with deep richness and nutty notes without being too overpowering.

All our milk is sourced locally, collected within 24hours of being milked and is turned into cheese that day, before being stored in our cheese cellars. The resulting cheese are full of the terroir of the beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty just outside our door.

What does my ticket include?

Your ticket includes a nice, comfy seat in our Salon plus:

• 125ml glass of Prosecco on arrival
• guided tasting of the Book and Bucket Cheeses with tasting samples of our wines
• Voucher for 10% off wine when you book a table on a Wednesday or Thursday evening this summer
• Nibbles

What time does the event start?

The event starts promptly at 7.30pm so please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand so we can get you settled with your welcome drink.

Will there be food?

In addition to the cheese tasting, nibbles are included to avoid anyone going wobbly during the tasting. If you need something a bit more substantial, we recommend coming earlier and enjoying our sharing platters . We have cheeseboards, charcuterie and hummus platters available from 5pm until 9pm but please bear in mind that we won't be able to take orders and serve food during the event.

What if I can't make it?

Unfortunately, because we have limited seats available, we are unable to offer refunds however you are welcome to pass your tickets on to someone else if you can't make it.

Can I stay on for a drink after the event?

We close at 10pm on Thursdays so you're more than welcome to stay on and enjoy another drink or two after the event.
