Planetary health – striving for a healthy future for us and all life on earth

Our prestigious Annual Lecture will be on the theme of Planetary Health.

How can we safeguard the health of people and natural systems during times of unprecedented change? How can we achieve a healthy future which considers the wellbeing and equity of all life on earth?

The event will start with an introductory keynote talk from Sir Professor Andy Haines, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. 

The panellists will be:

  • Keynote: Professor Sir Andy Haines, Professor of Environmental Change and Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
  • Chantelle Lindsay, Wildlife Conservationist and Presenter, London Wildlife Trust and BBC
  • Professor Federico Costa, Professor of Epidemiology (Microbial Diseases), Yale School of Public Health
  • Dr Modi Mwatsama, Head of Capacity & Field Development, Climate & Health at Wellcome Trust
  • Dr Gail Marzetti, Director of Science, Research and Evidence, Department of Health & Social Care
  • Chair: Professor Rachael Gooberman-Hill, Professor of Health and Anthropology, University of Bristol

Cabot Institute Research Showcase

We are also holding a free Research Showcase on the same day. It is open between 3:30 pm and 5:45 pm in the Reception Room. Please note last entry is 5:30 pm. No need to book, just drop in. 

Come along to discover more about the Cabot Institute for the Environment and how our researchers are striving for a healthy future for us and all life on earth.

Expect interactive Planetary Health research highlights from academics from across our faculties and disciplines. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the research from our brilliant Master’s by Research in Global Environmental Challenges students.

Both events are free to attend and open to all.

The event will start promptly at 6 pm, so please do make sure you are seated by this time. Doors will be closed at 6 pm to prevent disruption to filming.
