On Monday 7 July we are inviting school sustainability leaders and governors with sustainability link roles to join us at the University of Bristol for a climate change and sustainability event. In line with the DfE sustainability strategy we have a wealth of speakers to inspire and support school settings in embedding climate change and sustainability across the school estate. You will also have the the opportunity to find out more about how the Cabot Climate Ambassadors can support schools with climate action planning and the National Education Nature Park scheme.

  • 09:00 - arrival: sign in, coffee, introduction and housekeeping (Michelle Graffagnino, Senior Lecturer in Secondary Geography Education, University of Bristol)
  • 09:30 - The importance of civic engagement for the 'Bristol One City Approach' for 2050 (Palie Smart, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Civic Engagement)
  • 09:45 - The Educational Policy Landscape and Introduction to the Climate Ambassador programme and Climate Action Plans (Nicki Schantz, The Met Office, Climate Ambassador South West Hub Manager)
  • 10:30 - Utilising the National Education Nature Park (NENP) scheme to inform and evaluate climate action plans (Richard Irvine, National Education Nature Park, South West regional coordinator)
