Art Studies with Anna: Colour and Expression from Post-Impressionism to Matisse

Calling all secondary school artists! Registration for the autumn term of art classes with Sydenham Library's artist in residence, Anna Arianova, is now open.

From Post-Impressionism to Matisse - Colour and Expression

Students will explore the work of Henri Matisse and other artists who influenced the development of modern art. Through a variety of practical projects, students will investigate colour, shape, line, pattern, composition and expressive mark-making.

The autumn term will run from 4-5pm on weekly term-time Mondays from 14th September until 7th December at Sydenham Library. While it is preferred students attend every session, it is not required. We ask, however, that you be able to attend the majority of a term's sessions to book. Please discuss with Anna upon the first session if you plan to miss certain sessions.

These sessions are open to KS2 and GCSE students. While you don't need to be studying art in school, these sessions are aimed at students with a serious interest in developing their artistic craft. Classes are free but advance booking is required. About Anna Arianova: Anna has been living, working, exhibiting and teaching in south-east London for the past 20 years. Through her career she has explored a wide range of styles and techniques, but her main focus remains on representing reality through visual art in ways that evoke emotion. She believes that art can help us understand ourselves more deeply and connect meaningfully with the world around us. A strong believer in the power of libraries as spaces for connection and creativity, Anna is excited to share her passion for art through these regular sessions.
