This is a community screening of the documentary film "AIDS Diva: The Legend of Connie Norman" which is the life and times of transgender / AIDS activist Connie Norman.
We will be honoring one of LA's iconic transgender trailblazers, a defining voice of ACT UP LA and a media personality in her own right. The self appointed "AIDS Diva" lives on on this award winning film lovingly created by Dante Alencastre and John Johnston.
CASA 0101 is a beloved community arts center in Boyle Heights, founded to uplift local stories, artists, and cultural work. It's a mission driven space that has long served as a home for grassroots storytelling and community gatherings, a prefect venue to honor Connie's life and activism.
Hosted and moderated by ChiChi Navarro, event host, social media curator, and community leader whose work centers intersectional trans and queer experiences.
