FRIDAY OCTOBER 18
On the Cal Poly Humboldt campus
11am-2pm: Business Planning for Seaweed Farming, hosted by California & Connecticut Sea Grant. Click Here for Tickets and for information about the event.
2pm-3pm: Tour the Rou Dalagurr Food Sovereignty Lab & Traditional Ecological Institute.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 18
On the Samoa Peninsula
4pm-5:30pm: Two tour options on the Samoa Peninsula: A close-up look at wild seaweed diversity in the Bay with seaweed experts or Aquaculture Facilities Tour hosted by Sunken Seaweed and Hog Island Oyster.
6pm-9pm: The Seaweed Speakeasy, networking event at the Humboldt Bay Social Club, with seaweed-centric appetizers, your first drink and a reusable commemorative steel cup.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 19
At the Wharfinger Building on the Eureka Waterfront
9:30am-5pm: The free, family-friendly California Seaweed Festival
A full day of talks, panel discussions, hands-on activities, cooking demos, music, entertainers, food and other fun stuff, all about seaweed!
11am-3pm: Bay tours on the Madaket hosted by an expert in seaweeds and aquaculture, will run hourly from the adjacent dock.
11am-3pm: Tour the Research Vessel Coral Sea on the adjacent dock.
6pm-9pm: The Sustainable Seafood Soirée, in collaboration with Fed by Blue, and PBS, including screening of a special cut of the PBS docuseries Hope in the Water, panel discussion with some of the makers and stars of the series, and sustainable seafood appetizers and drinks.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 20
At Cal Poly Humboldt's Telonicher Marine Lab in Trinidad
9am-1pm: Kelp Hatchery/Nursery Workshop
A hands-on experience of key steps in kelp aquaculture, with the experts who established and run the first seaweed farm in the waters of Humboldt Bay.
