A Lecture and Tango Dance Demonstration

exploring the music, the moves, and the magic of tango

Renowned tango historian Ignacio Varchausky, joining us from Buenos Aires, breaks down tango’s groove—from the score to the floor. This lecture with dance demonstration reveals how the rhythms, melodies, and iconic steps of tango intertwine. Participants will discover how the dance becomes an extension of the music itself, expressing passion, precision, and the unmistakable pulse of the Río de la Plata. Joining Ignacio are world-class tango dancers Carolina Jaurena and Anton Domansky, arriving from New York to illuminate how music transforms into movement. Also, Pablo Jaurena, coming from Córdoba, Argentina, will illustrate on the bandoneon the emblematic musical tones of tango: its music, its rhythm, and its unmistakable pulse. Through history, musical insight, and live demonstrations, the essence of tango comes vividly to life.
