Horn player Alec Frank-Gemmill teams up with the Perks Ensemble to provide an enticing evening of chamber music. Featuring Cambridge composer Jeremy Thurlow’s Crooked Consort for natural horn and string quartet, they will also give the premiere of a new version of Antonín Dvořák’s Op. 97 quintet arranged for horn and strings. The Horn Concerto by Telemann and popular works by Mozart and Schubert make this a programme not to be missed.

Praised for their energetic and committed performance style the Perks Ensemble was formed in 2011 by brothers Oscar and Elliott Perks with the aim of exploring the rich and wonderful chamber repertoire scored for less common combinations of instruments.

Alec Frank-Gemmill is widely recognised for pushing the boundaries of the French horn, whether by commissioning new music, making transcriptions of chamber music or through historically-informed performance practice.
