Five days to slow down, open up and create

Paros in October is one of the quietest and most beautiful times to be on the island. The summer crowds are gone, the light turns golden, the sea is still warm and the hills smell of wild herbs and harvest. It is, in short, the ideal conditions for creative work — and for doing nothing at all.

Flow is an intimate, unhurried retreat for people who want to write, draw, move and make — alongside others who feel the same way. Each day has a loose shape: a grounding start, a creative session, time together over food, and a free afternoon to go wherever the island takes you. Evenings we come back to the house, eat well, look up at the stars and — if the mood takes us — make some music.

We will create community and an experience that can nourish, focus, recalibrate and inspire us to write that book, to birth that new project, to live the life we wish for.

No previous experience is needed in anything. Just a willingness to turn up and see what happens, in the flow.

🧘 MORNING YOGA

A gentle morning practice to settle the body and open the day — suitable for all levels, held on the terrace or in the living room.

✍️ WRITING CIRCLES

Led by Pete, who has years of experience holding writers circles — guided prompts, quiet time on the page and sharing when you're ready. No previous writing experience needed.

🎨 DRAWING SESSIONS

Observational drawing, sketchbook work and visual responses to the island — open to absolute beginners and experienced artists alike.

🎵 MUSIC COLLABORATIONS

Informal music-making sessions — bring an instrument if you play, or simply listen, contribute a sound, a lyric or a rhythm. No performance pressure.

🍅 COMMUNAL LUNCHES

Long, unhurried lunches together at the house using the best of what Paros grows — tomatoes, olives, feta, fresh fish and local wine.

🏖️ FREE AFTERNOONS

Time entirely your own — sea swimming, exploring the island's villages and coves, resting in a hammock, or continuing whatever the morning started.

🍽️ EVENING MEALS

Either cooked communally at the house or eaten at one of the local tavernas Pete knows well — both are part of the experience.

🌌 STARGAZING & MUSIC

When the day winds down, we gather on the terrace. The sky above Paros is extraordinary — no light pollution, no distractions. Just stars, music and good company.

What is flow?

There are moments in life when everything seems to fall into place. Time softens. Ideas arrive effortlessly. Conversation deepens. A walk becomes an adventure, a swim becomes a meditation, and writing feels less like hard work than quiet discovery.

Psychologists call this state flow — that rare feeling of being completely absorbed in what we are doing. But flow isn't something we can force. More often, it appears when we slow down, become curious, immerse ourselves in nature, and give ourselves permission to notice.

This retreat is gently designed to create the conditions where flow can emerge naturally: through writing, conversation, swimming in the Aegean, exploring hidden corners of Paros, sharing delicious food, lingering over sunsets, and allowing ourselves the spaciousness that everyday life so often denies us.

A week of discovery

This isn't simply a writing retreat, nor is it a conventional holiday. It is an invitation to step into a different rhythm of living.

Over the course of the week there will be moments of laughter, quiet reflection, unexpected conversations and creative sparks. Together we'll wander ancient paths, discover secluded beaches and hidden tavernas, write beneath olive trees, share stories over long candlelit dinners and watch the stars emerge over the Aegean.

My role is not to lecture or prescribe, but to hold a space where curiosity, creativity and genuine connection can flourish. Every guest will have their own journey, but again and again I've witnessed what becomes possible when people are given time, encouragement and a sense of belonging. New ideas surface. Confidence quietly returns. Friendships are formed. Perspectives shift. Something begins to move.

Perhaps that is the greatest gift of Flow: not becoming someone different, but rediscovering a little more of who you already are.

Good food, good company

Some evenings we eat together at the house — cooking with whatever came from the market that morning, sharing the table as the sun goes down over the Aegean. Other nights we head to one of Pete's favourite local tavernas, where the food is simple and honest and the view is hard to leave.

Either way, these are the moments the week is built around — unhurried, warm and always ending with the stars coming out.

Beneath the stars

When dinner is done, we move to the terrace. The sky above Milos House is extraordinary — sitting 200 metres above sea level with no immediate neighbours and no light pollution to speak of, the stars come out in a way that feels almost personal.

Some nights there will be curated ambient music playing quietly as people recline and look up. Other nights it will be someone picking up a guitar, or simply the sound of conversation winding down into comfortable silence. No programme, no pressure. Just the Milky Way, the lights of the islands below, and as much or as little company as you want.
