Malcolm Bricklin is one of the great independent auto entrepreneurs, best known for the ill-fated Canadian-made sports car that shared his name. Over the years he has marketed and sold a staggering range of automobiles, from Yugos to Subarus to experimental electrics. Join CAM Curator Alex Gates, Special Project Coordinator Dumaresq de Pencier, and Mr. Bricklin himself as they discuss the Canadian-made Bricklin SV-1, alternative energy vehicles, and the future of the North American auto-market.
This online talk will take place over Zoom and is part of the Canadian Automotive Museum's Third Thursday lecture series. These online talks are free and open to the public, but registration is required. The Canadian Automotive Museum is a registered Canadian charity and a suggested donation of $10 goes toward covering the cost of hosting these virtual events. About our speaker:
Born in Philadelphia, Malcolm Bricklin founded his first business at the age of 19. Since then, he has made a name for himself as an auto entrepreneur and importer. He was responsible for the first North American imports of the iconic Fuji Rabbit scooter, and was instrumental in the founding of Subaru of America. Following the failure of his innovative Bricklin Safety Vehicle in the 1970s, he turned to the European market, importing the much-beloved Serbian-made Yugo. Today. he is the founder and CEO of New York-based Visionary Vehicles, developing the 3EV electric car.
