Painting Exchange Description and Rules:
This is an optional and voluntary opportunity. Elected Members are invited to submit a painting to the exchange for a $35 fee. Each member who submits a painting shall receive another Member’s painting in the exchange. This event was undertaken as a way to generate camaraderie within the Society, have some fun, to encourage participation at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and to generate some income against the various costs of holding an AGM. For many years it was a favoured event at the AGM.
After an extended hiatus, Peter Marsh has graciously agreed to bring this event back for current members to enjoy.
Rules:
1. This event will be open only to Elected Members who attend the AGM in person.
2.The fee for entry will be $35, payable as a separate ticket in the “Buy Tickets” menu
3. After buying your ticket for the exchange, you must email a photo of your painting to info@cspwc.ca by March 30th. Your ticket confirmation email will contain full instructions on sending in the image.
4. Choose your best work for the exchange. Each painting will be promoted on the Society’s social media accounts, with your name and link to your website/gallery.
5. Painting requirements: Rectangular (landscape or portrait) paintings: No larger than 11x15” no smaller than 10x14”. Square paintings: must be 12x12” Paintings must be finished with a matting minimum width 2.25” natural white or neutral, and presented in an archival sleeve for artwork. The CSPWC reserves the right to refuse paintings that do not meet requirements.
6.The paintings will be presented in person on the day of the AGM.
How the exchange works:
A. Attend the AGM in person. After you have signed in and received your registration package, turn in your painting. It will be assigned a number; provided it meets the guidelines set out above. Your name will be entered into the draw.
B.The paintings will be on display from the beginning of the meeting until after the Presentation by our Guest Speaker.
C. At the beginning of the exchange, the draw will start : the first name will be drawn by our Guest Speaker or an Associate. That person will blindly select a painting number from the bucket, and receives the corresponding painting. Subsequent draws will be made by the person who selected just prior; after they have picked up their painting.
