DESCRIPTION:
Would you like to discover an oasis among palm trees?
Come and discover the awesome landscapes between impressive reddish cliffs that make up the Volcanic Caldera of Tirajana, land that was the last home of the ancient inhabitants of Gran Canaria. On this tour, prepared for all types of explorers, you will travel back in time to discover some of the oldest stories that survive today about the people who inhabited the island before the arrival of the conquerors. Join us and explore a mountainous landscape full of enigmas, mysteries, caves, ruins and other vestiges that show the aboriginal life of the "Canarii" people.
During this activity, you will visit the historic centre of Santa Lucía de Tirajana and walk among palm trees in an authentic oasis to enjoy a gentle walk through the ravine. You will have the opportunity to taste tasty KM 0 products while enjoying the natural setting.
In addition, you will visit the ruins of La Fortaleza, an ancient place of worship that served as an observatory for celestial observation by popular wisdom.
And to finish, you can take a refreshing swim on a small black sand beach. If you're not used to taking walks, don't worry—we'll only do a few short walks (0,5-2 km). But come prepared for action, because we'll be enjoying an immersive experience in nature.
ITINERARY:
● Mirador de El Guriete: The first stop at a viewpoint will allow us to enjoy impressive views of the Caldera de Tirajana.
● Santa Lucía de Tirajana Village: We will begin the day by visiting this charming town of white houses among palm trees, which has a long history associated with olive cultivation and beekeeping. There you can learn some of the stories about the ancient inhabitants of the area that are still latent in its streets and people. In addition, we will visit a business in the village where you can find KM 0 products and wonderful handicrafts to buy as souvenirs.
● El Ingenio de Santa Lucía, Palm Tree Valley: After awakening our senses, we will travel to the picturesque town that lies under the immense palm grove that comprises Palmeral del Ingenio. From there, we will take a pleasant path to Barranco de La Sorrueda, where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the reservoir and the Caldera de Tirajana. In this area, you will enjoy tasting fresh fruit and other KM 0 products in the shade of palm trees and watching the water run in the rainy season. You can also contemplate Canarian crafts and buildings made with natural resources.
● La Sorrueda Lookout: After a short trip to the depths of the Barranco de La Sorrueda, you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the reservoir and the Caldera de Tirajana
● Aboriginal Caves of La Fortaleza: After a tasting and a moment of relaxation, we will go to La Fortaleza, one of the last places where the ancient inhabitants of the island were located. This enclave of connection between heaven and earth will make you connect with the aboriginal culture, and it will be like a trip back in time.
● The Tobas Ravine: This will be the time to go on a small picturesque walk through one of the narrowest ravines in Gran Canaria, where the erosion of the water that once ran through it leaves us with indelible images to remember.
● Tufia Fishing Village: The day will end with an incredible swim in the fishing village of Tufia, where we will see caves but this time near the coast. The black volcanic sand and clear water make for an unforgettable experience. The tour includes some goggles and snorkel tubes so you can explore a seabed full of life.
