Board Governance BootCamp
DATE AND LOCATION:
The BootCamp is being held November 26, 27, and 28 at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener, Ontario.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
We encourage Non-profit CEO/Executive Directors and Board Chairs to attend. Many organizations bring their whole board.
THE CHALLENGE:
For any non-profit, the board of directors plays a critical role in making powerful and positive impact as it advances an organization’s mission. To fulfill this role, it is imperative that directors are properly trained in the responsibilities and demands of a governance position. Yet many boards often struggle to adequately educate new and existing directors. Without the right education, resources, and guidance for their directors, boards may fall short of reaching their organizational goals.
CAPACITY CANADA’S BOARD GOVERNANCE BOOTCAMP:
Since 2009, Capacity Canada’s 16th annual Board Governance BootCamp has offered an exceptional opportunity for building the capacity of boards across Canada. Led by a renowned faculty, participatory small-group facilitations, customized resources, and sample problems in an intensive 3 day period.
By encouraging attendance by the Board Chair as well as the CEO/Executive Director from each participating organization, the program is unique in deepening the necessary collaboration among an organization’s board and leadership team.
The BootCamp will increase participants’ governance abilities by sharing strategies and tools for innovative ways of working that teams can incorporate right away. Outcomes include an improved understanding of roles, new strategies for working effectively, and a renewed focus on the issues that matter most to organizations. Overall, participants become better equipped to lead positive change across their organizations and communities.
