The Woven Self: An Embroidery and Storytelling Workshop

Capaz Counseling presents an evening of mindful embroidery inspired by global traditions of rest, storytelling, and reflection led by NYC therapist Jessenia Ramirez, LMHC-D.
Across cultures, embroidery and hand-stitching have long been used as a reflective storytelling practice. This workshop draws from that lineage and from principles of narrative and expressive arts, inviting you to explore embroidery as a way of expressing lived experience through rhythm, repetition, and touch.
You’ll begin with gentle grounding to arrive and settle, then move into simple embroidery techniques in a calm, conversational space for making. Through slow, intentional stitching and light reflection, you’ll be invited to notice what emerges when experience is expressed through the hands rather than held in the mind. This process supports presence, focus, and nervous system regulation through embodied attention.
Leave feeling centered and restored, with a hand-stitched piece that reflects your time in reflection - a quiet reminder of the ease that comes from slowing down.
