Anyone aged under 18 who wants to attend a Safeguarding 1 course must first complete this form (SG1 Parental Consent Form) and submit it to Ger Bonner on gbonner@carlow.ie prior to booking a place on this course.

Renewal
If you have attended a Safeguarding 1 – Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness course within the last three years, you do not need to complete another full course. Instead, you can do a “refresher” course online. Click HERE to access Sport Ireland’s Safeguarding 1 online Refresher course.

On completion of the Refresher course, you should complete the Digital Test. You must score 80% or more to pass. When you pass the test, you will receive a Digital Certificate. Your certificate will then be valid for a further 3 years. At that point, you will be required to attend another full Safeguarding 1 – Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness training course/workshop.
