Autumn wonders at Abraham, Photography Workshop

Capture beautiful and unique fall photos in the unforgettable mountain location of Abraham Lake in David Thompson Country, approximately 2 hours west of Red Deer, Alberta. This area of the Canadian Rockies, away from the crowds of the National Parks, is a true gem and provides stunning photo opportunities especially in the fall. From awe-inspiring vistas and glacial blue waters, to vibrant foliage, intimate details, and dark skies, there will be no shortage of photographic subjects and inspiration.

Nordegg, Alberta will be our central meeting location from which we will head out together to explore various locations along Abraham Lake and throughout the area. Group sessions will start at sunrise and go through to sunset and possibly into the evening under dark starry skies. You will receive expert and personalized guidance throughout the entire workshop to improve your technical and creative photography skills. You will go home with fresh inspiration, new knowledge, beautiful images, and great memories.

Recommendation: All levels of photographers are welcome, however if you feel like you need a refresher on some of the basics prior to the workshop, you can book a private add-on session. If you would like to get a head start on the use of filters, consider registering for "Filter Focus", Sep. 13, Red Deer, Alberta. 

What to bring: tripod, polarizer and/or neutral density filters (optional but highly recommended), extra batteries and memory cards, flashlight and headlamp for night shooting, shutter cable release (optional but recommended), rubber boots or hip waders (optional), good walking shoes, appropriate clothing for the weather. Full list will be sent to participants prior to workshop.

Activity Level:  Easy - Intermediate. The workshop will involve some walking on gentle, short slopes and uneven terrain. The final day includes a 3km hike with easier options to suit all fitness and mobility levels.

Small Group: Minimum 4, Maximum 8 participants

Not Included:

• Transportation to and from Abraham Lake, as well as between shooting locations. Car pooling will be encouraged from the meeting location at start of workshop in Nordegg.
• Meals - participants are encouraged to bring snacks, a bag lunch (or pick up in Nordegg), water bottle. There will be an optional group dinner on Saturday, as well as breakfast on Sunday, both in Nordegg.
• Accommodations: Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodations in the area. There are several options in the area: Nordegg Lodge, David Thompson Resort, camping along Abraham Lake. Please contact me if you have any questions about where to stay.

While registration is non-refundable, it is transferable. This means that if a participant is unable to attend, they may find another individual to take their place. It is the participant's responsibility to sell their spot if they are unable to attend.

Carmen Therriault Photography reserves the right to cancel this workshop at any time for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: minimum number of participants not met, family emergency, unforeseen circumstances that impact the operation of the workshop. In the event of a cancellation by Carmen Therriault Photography, participants will receive a full refund for the workshop; however, participants will not be compensated for any other associated costs such as, but not limited to, travel, hotels, insurance, booking fees.

By registering you understand that the weather is unpredictable and that there is no guarantee of sky conditions conducive to any particular type of photography. Refunds will not be given based on sky conditions.
