CARRY ON TOURING UK-EU SUMMIT AND LOBBY DAY
CARRY ON TOURING
UK-EU SUMMIT AND LOBBY DAY
TUESDAY 28th JANUARY 2025 | 5pm -7pm
COMMITTEE ROOM 10, PARLIAMENT, SW1A 0AA
Please join us at the UK-EU Summit in Parliament and show your support for change to the post-Brexit requirements imposed on UK touring creatives and professionals.
It is nothing short of a tragedy that this vital £multi-billion part of the UK economy isn't working properly. Those who rely on touring for their livelihoods have been left to navigate a confusing, bureaucratic, timely and costly process to do the job they love.
So much of Britain’s talent and its creatives - those who make those gigs happen - aren’t touring in Europe because of the failure to get an exemption in the UK’s trade agreement with the European Union.
90 in every 180 days isn’t working for those on tour OR for the UK and EU economies.
The Carry On Touring campaign represents ‘frontline’ UK creatives - NOT just musicians - but all those who work across the touring, cultural and creative industries sector.
There is now clear evidence that touring isn’t working with the number of tours drastically down on pre-Brexit levels. It is undeniable that there needs to be change - an exemption or waiver - to unlock this part of the economy in the UK and EU. Doing nothing is not an option and there is little prospect of the situation easing, or becoming less burdensome, with the introduction of the new European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)
This high-level UK - EU Summit will provide an opportunity to hear from our supporters, touring artists and professionals, UK MPs, Peers - of all parties - and political leaders, from both the UK and EU, about the frontline impact and need for change to unlock this huge part of the economy.
Join us and listen to the real people, whose real lives and real jobs are affected. It’s time to reset the relationship with the EU and commit to listening to the real voices who know what needs to be done.
