This year's Cary Grant festival culminates in a red carpet gala screening of the screwball classic of Bringing Up Baby (1938), with extra treats. Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn star in Howard Hawks' definitive screwball comedy, chock full of rapid-fire dialogue, slapstick pratfalls and zany antics.
Ticket includes bubbly on arrival, vintage canapes (including one of Cary Grant's own recipes) and live music from the South by Southwest Swing Ensemble. Red carpet attire is encouraged and there will be prizes for the best dressed - so get your glad rags on!
Doors 19:00, film starts 20:00. Running time: 1hr 42mins
We'd be grateful if you could book early so we know how many canapes to order!
Bookish palaeontologist (Grant) is desperate to complete his Brontosaurus skeleton and secure a $1 million donation to his beloved museum.
On the eve of his marriage to prim assistant Alice Swallow, Huxley winds up in a series of madcap adventures involving a scatter-brained heiress Susan Vance (Hepburn) and her tame pet leopard, the eponymous “Baby".
Susan falls for Huxley and does everything in her power to keep him from his wedding the next day.
When Baby goes missing and Susan's Terrier George steals the final bone in Huxley's Brontosaurus, they go in search of the priceless bone and the leopard, only to mistake Baby for another fierce leopard who has coincidentally escaped from a nearby travelling circus.
Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch Grant and Hepburn sizzle in this screwball classic, amongst the dinosaur exhibits at Bristol Museum. This gala screening comes with extra treats, including a red carpet entrance, paparazzi, bubbly on arrival, vintage canapes and live music. Red carpet attire is welcomed, with prizes for the best dressed.

FAQ
Why are you asking for donations?
Cary Comes Home is a labour of love and currently does not receive any major sponsorship. Your donation will help make the festival sustainable so we can keep on celebrating Cary Grant's Bristol roots for years to come. Any donation, however large or small, would be much appreciated. Donations of £10 will be thanked on our website. Donations of £50 will also be listed on the big screen at our gala screening.
Why are you charging £1.50 transaction fee?
The transaction fee contributes towards credit and debit card charges so the full ticket price can go towards the costs of producing the gala.
