Beast, Feast & Bone

Two days of Ancient Butchery, Wild cooking & Bone craft. Taught by Memma the Cavewoman and The Saxon Forager

Over two days you will learn how to butcher a deer from skinning, the joints of meat, how to tan the hide, and make tools with bones. You will also cook the deer with historic recipes including making jerky, a pot roast and sausages!

Bring a coolbox to take pieces of deer home with you.

You will be eating what you cook and can choose to stay the night on the communal sleeping bench in the Viking Longhouse.

The venue is The Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne, Dorset. A site of replica historic buildings based on Iron Age, Roman, Anglo Saxon and Viking archaeological examples. You will be based in the Viking Longhouse for this course which also has the modern facilities of toilets and fully equipped kitchen!

Join a group of like-minded people to learn how to turn one of the UK's most under-used resources into food and other commodities.

You will go home with the knowledge our ancestors learned, new friends and your cool bag of deer bits!
