THE ADVENTURES OF BEOWULF

A 2.5 hour storytelling and activities workshop for accompanied 7-12 year olds

Saturday 22nd August 2026.  

Session times: 10.00am-12.30am; or 2.00pm-4.30pm

at Tumbledown Community Growing Space, Radipole Lane, Weymouth DT4 9RP

Ticket Prices - £5 per person plus booking fee

Dive into the Anglo-Saxon world of myth and monsters and join storyteller Lizzie Bryant for an action-packed, family-friendly, performance of the Old English tale of the warrior Beowulf and the monsters that brought him fame. Enjoy hands-on Saxon and Viking- themed activities, games and replica object handling with Castle Hill Heritage Skills. Age guide 7-12. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. 

General Info

We look forward to welcoming you to this outdoor family event. It takes place on a sloping site and sometimes uneven ground, in a wood and open areas of grass, accessed by wood-chipped, earthen or grass paths. Dress for being outside, with hat, sunscreen and water or warmer clothes for a cool day. If it is wet, the event will take place indoors and in marquee. We will keep you informed of any changes. Bring something to sit on that's light enough to carry short distances, eg small tarp or picnic chair. Bring snacks and refreshments.  Toilets available. 

Content: Whilst this performance is family friendly, this ancient story includes depictions of threat, violence, fighting and death contextualised in the paradigm of mythic narrative.

The Venue

Tumbledown lies off Radipole Lane, which is signposted as you approach the site and on the main entrances.

If you are coming by car, please park at the top car park which will be stewarded. Top car park What Three Words: unpainted.love.cabbages

If you are cycling to the site, Tumbledown does have areas where your bike can be locked.

If using public transport, get the Number 2 or Number 10 bus to the Famous Old Spa bus stop. From this bus stop it is around a 15-20 minute walk.

There is also a bus stop by Mayfield Close in Southill, and you can find information about this service here
