Astronomy Night

Using the beautiful vantage point of The Maryport Settlement

Come and join regional astronomers at The Settlement, Saturday November 7th, 5-8pm for an evening of short talks, tabletop displays and viewing of the night sky, weather permitting. We'll learn to find the North Star Polaris with the naked eye, understand how different telescopes work, find our way around the night sky over winter in our latitude, listen to short talks on how our Solar System formed, why stars can be different colours, going on a Star Camp, and learn about eclipses and auroras. 

Photographs from the Rheged Astronomy competition will be on view, and hot drinks available inside. 

Warm clothing advised, all ages welcome, entry by donation.
