River Roaming along the Back Burn

Join us for a gentle walk along the Back Burn river at Coul Den. The Back Burn is a tributary to the River Leven, and a known spawning river for native brown trout, as well as home to other species such as otter, heron and dipper. During this walk we will explore the history of the Back Burn, the changes to the river over time, and how a recent restoration project has worked to restore natural processes and support local wildlife to thrive.

This walk is led by Maddie, River Restoration project manager at the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust. 

This will be a gentle walk of approximately 3 kilometres and follow a well-established path, but please wear appropriate footwear and dress to the weather conditions. We will be providing coffee, tea and light refreshments. The event is free.

• Parking: There is free parking available at Pitcairn Centre, and street parking nearby.
• Transport: If it would be helpful with transport to and from the venue, we will have either travel bursaries available or potentially hire a mini-bus to pick people up. Just let us know when you book a ticket and we will get in touch. 

About the Catchment Festival
