Weekend Workshop: Dramaturgy in Movement
Sat 30 Sep 2023 10:00 - Sun 1 Oct 2023 17:00
Dock11, 10435
Description
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Join creative collaborators Adi Weinberg (dancer/choreographer/Gaga teacher) and Cat Gerrard (dramaturg/storyteller/puppeteer) in an exploration of the world of the dramaturg: the one in a creative process who listens to what wants to happen next. Over two full days, we will experience some of the crucial areas of research of the dramaturg: embodied listening, guiding the process and storytelling in space. You will be invited into a guided movement research practice, investigating images and paintings and how they might move the body. With the material created, we will work in a small process, applying some of the principles of dramaturgy to what is emerging.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Cat Gerrard (she/her; GB/DE) is a storyteller, dramaturg, puppeteer and facilitator from the UK, based in Berlin. She trained in acting at Drama Studio London and later in collaborative performance-making at LISPA (now Arthaus Berlin). Cat’s work is multi-disciplinary and always created in an intuitive, collaborative, devised process. At the heart of Cat’s work is story – from the personal to the mythic, the individual to the collective. She circles around how we embody story, how we can develop a metaphorical kind of thinking, experiencing and transmission of artistic work. As a dramaturg – primarily in theatre and dance - and facilitator, Cat’s work seeks to integrate the various elements of a process: to include the dynamics and interplay between the personal, interpersonal and transpersonal elements that are in each creative process. Cat mentors, curates and teaches various workshops (both online and off) and is a regular teacher at Arthaus Berlin and Cours Florent, Berlin. She was a mentor/dramaturgical consultant for 101concrete’s show Assemblage, at fabrik Potsdam in the summer of 2022 and is the dramaturg for Adi Weinberg’s If the bull won’t come, which premiered, also at the fabrik, in November 2022. www.catgerrard.com
Adi Weinberg (she/her; IL/PL/DE) is a dancer, choreographer and Gaga teacher. She graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the Haifa Program for Professional Dancers and did an apprenticeship in Vertigo Dance Company. As a contemporary dancer she has performed at many festivals around the world. She has worked with many choreographers and institutions, including: Andrea Costanzo Martini, Nadar Rosano, Efrat Rubin, Rachel Erdos, Noa Zuk, Aviv Eveguy, Shimrit Golan, Agnieszka Glińska, Fresco Dance Company, the Israeli Opera, and the Polish National Opera.
Since 2014, she has been developing her work as a choreographer and performed her creations at various platforms and festivals, including Machol Shalem International Dance week, Tel Aviv Dance festival at Suzanne Dellal, MAAT festival, MSTT festival, KRoki festival, Instytut Teatralny in Warsaw, fabrik Potsdam and more. In 2017 she was awarded a grant from Mifal HaPais Council for the Culture and Arts for developing her choreography. In 2022 she took part in the DiR choreographic residency program at fabrik Potsdam where she later premiered her new creation If The Bull Won’t Come.
She has been building the Gaga community in Warsaw since 2017, teaching Gaga and movement research workshops for different audiences in Warsaw, Berlin, Potsdam and at various venues and festivals across Europe and Israel. She often curates and collaborates various workshops, courses and training for artists and creators with Cat Gerrard. She is a curious student practicing Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Feldenkrais. https://www.adiweinberg.com
