The Way of Beauty Art Tour
Saturday, April 13th at 2:00pm
at the
National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC
Join a pilgrimage on the "way of beauty" on a tour of the Renaissance galleries at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC., with Jem Sullivan, Ph.D., associate professor and former docent. Journey through centuries of Catholic artistic creativity in masterpieces by Giotto, Fra Angelico, Leonardo da Vinci, Giorgione, and Raphael, among many other creative geniuses of the Renaissance.
Jem Sullivan Biography: Jem Sullivan, Ph.D. is associate professor at The Catholic University
of America in the School of Theology and Religious Studies where she
teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in pastoral studies. She is
the author of essays and books on the place of beauty in the Church's
evangelizing mission and served as an National Gallery of Art docent while she was in
graduate school. She writes art essays in Magnificat and OSV News and
served as host of documentaries on the arts in evangelization and
catechesis. She resides in Maryland with her family.
Tickets are $22 for members and $25 for non-members
The tour group will meet at the fountain in the West Building rotunda at 1:50 pm for registration. Please be punctual so the tour can begin on time.
An optional gathering after the tour will take place in the museum cafe for refreshments and social time.
