About the Teacher:
Mary-Maye Lorriman has a diverse portfolio career as an Artist. As someone who believes in life long learning, she thirst for new projects to channel and express her creativity.
There is a common thread running through Mary-Maye’s portfolio. Light, space and presence. The combination of these three elements gives her paintings a tangible sense of peace.
Having worked for many years taking Portrait commissions Mary-Maye had the opportunity to learn the discipline of Iconography. Firstly through a Redemptorist Brother and more latterly she received tuition from Aidan Hart, a world renowned wood carver and Iconography.
Teaching Iconography came most recently in response to the Catholic Mothers organisation. Mary-Maye was approached to teach a beginners course in Iconography. In the first instance the course was piloted with a small core group. This time we are offering the course to a larger group. We hope that the course will be a journey of faith and healing as we contemplate and are taught how to write our icons.
