One Last Hurrah: A love letter to Catweazle

In summer 2026, the curtain dropped for the last time on The Catweazle Club - and after more than 30 years as the beating heart of the Oxford art scene, we couldn’t say goodbye without one last hurrah. 

This event is a celebration of that time and that community, commemorating what Catweazle meant to those that sat in front of and performed on its sequinned stage mainly in the years 2008-2020. In a number of venues across the city, but mainly in the glittering cave of the East Oxford Community Centre, many of us cut our teeth, tread the boards, and blossomed as poets, musicians, and artists - and along the way forged friendships, connections, and creative partnerships. Life-changing stuff. 

The night will feature sets from some of the most beloved performers from the 2008-2020 period (and we're so sorry we couldn't squeeze everyone in!). We're excited to come together one last time, and to hear the songs and poems we made and shared in that time, and revel in a bit of delightful nostalgia. All are welcome - whether you were around in that time period or not! - to enjoy some of the wonders that called Catweazle home.

With enormous gratitude to Matt Sage who endorsed this celebration - we want to say thank you for letting us say goodbye and show our appreciation for all you and Catweazle have done for the city and our creative spirits.

The event will take place on Saturday 24 October (Catweazle’s birthday!) at 7pm at The Isis Farmhouse. It will be ticketed and open to the public (£7 admission, £5 concessions, £10 to pay a bit more - all proceeds will go to cover our costs, and any left-over will go towards the travel expenses of performers many of whom have since departed the dreaming spires).
