What's caulicamp!?
caulicamp is a participant-driven summer camp near Sydney, inspired by vibecamp.
We are home many kinds of people: writers, musicians, tech people, massive nerds, meditators, dancers, and enjoyers of life.
What unites us is a yearning for community of like-minded people, a sense of adventure, an appetite for (self-)discovery, and a desire to live intentionally.
In our third annual event, we want to set a new intention for the camp: We want to connect with our dreams, and encourage and support others in theirs.
OK, but really, what is it???
caulicamp, like vibecamp, started as a way for people in the "tpot" community (which stands for "this part of twitter") to meet and connect in real life. This community formed around a group of people called "post-rationalists" that moved beyond rationality to find more groundedness.
Since these camps began, they have grown beyond this original twitter community to encompass a broader group that isn't limited to the terminally-online.
Ultimately caulicamp is what you make it! It's a space for this extended community to come together, meet each other, form deep connections, bring our own activities, gifts, and vibes to share with everyone else.
If this sounds like the place for you, then you're invited! And if you're not sure whether you're invited, then you're also invited!
Events and activities
Here at caulicamp we value initiative, and participants are strongly encouraged to run their own events and activities.
Here is a long but non-exhaustive list of events people have run at previous camps:

- Freestyle dancing and twerking workshop
- Contact improv

We run caulicamp unconference-style, so we don't publish a full schedule of events in advance of the camp, but we have a session on the first morning for people to talk about what they want to see, and offer up what events they would like to run and find a time and place for them. Additionally, while these semi-planned events are a big part of caulicamp, and the planning session helps initial structure to kick things off, much of the magic of the camp lies in what people do together organically or spontaneously.
We encourage you to bring your musical instruments, board games/cards, sports equipment, and elaborate rube-goldberg machines.
If you're thinking of running an event/activity that requires some equipment you don't have, please let us know (preferably via discord) and we'll see if we can allocate some of our budget towards it.
Who's hosting?
caulicamp is hosted by cauliflower (@cauliflwr_human), with help from Eliot (@Eliot__Red), Chris (@chriswaterguy).
Location
caulicamp is at Camp Wombaroo, next to the Jellore State Forest in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
It's less than a 2-hour drive from most parts of Sydney, and a 1h30m drive from the airport. It's also a 20-min drive from Mittagong train station, which takes around 2h10m to get to from Sydney Central station and the airport stations by train.
We will be ferrying people from the train station, but if you have a car and will be driving to caulicamp, please help other attendees by offering to carpool in the discord server. We're also using the discord server for coordinating pre/post-camp couch-surfing and AirBnBs.
Venue details
The venue has a dining hall, two meeting room spaces (one which is partitioned off from the dining hall, the other which is a short walk uphill from the dining hall), multiple campfire areas, and shared shower/toilet blocks in each cabin area and near the dining hall. There is also ample space to pitch up tents.
If we have enough people, we will be setting up marquees as extra space for more events to run.
Weather
During January, the Southern Highlands can get quite hot during the day, but overnight temperatures vary. It's also very likely we will see some rain during the camp.
We recommend bringing clothing for hot days and a light jacket, as well as a raincoat or umbrella. If you're camping in a tent, we strongly recommend a tent that is designed to withstand storms and not just a festival tent.
Internet access
You may struggle to get phone reception at Camp Wombaroo. Fortunately
they provide two options for internet access: Starlink, and a secondary
fixed wireless connection.
Starlink WiFi is only available near the
main office building, which is slightly far from the dining hall but
still within range. The secondary WiFi is accessible all
buildings, including cabins.
Kangaroos
The site is filled with wild kangaroos, and the occasional a wombat! (We assume this is where Wombaroo got its name)
(For those coming from abroad: Kangaroos are a very rare sight in most big Australian cities, so this is a rare treat even for many locals.)
Tickets
We sell two kinds of tickets:
- Cabin tickets, including a bed in dormitory-style accommodation in 6-8 bed bunk rooms
- Tent/camper tickets, which do not include a bed, and you bring your own tent, camper van, or other shelter
All ticket sales close on Friday the 16th of January at midday Sydney daylight time, UTC+11.
Prices
Ticket Type | Cabin | Tent/Camper |
| Super Early Bird (x8) | ||
| Early Bird (x20) | ||
| Regular | $420.69 | $305 |

Early bird tickets
Early bird tickets will be available until after Tuesday the 23th of December (midnight Sydney daylight time, UTC+11)
Super Early Bird x 8 - SOLD OUT
Early Bird x 20 - $380 for cabins, $265 for tent/campers
Cabin tickets
Cabin tickets include a bed in a dormitory-style cabin of 6-8 bunk beds, though there is enough space for us to use only the bottom bunks.
There is one room of 4 bunk beds and five two-bed share rooms with ensuites. These will be set-aside for people with special needs, families, and volunteers, before being offered to couples, and others.
Please contact us directly if you have an accessibility need, or are
planning to bring your children along, or if you are attending as a couple and would prefer a twin room, so that we can accommodate you.
In the past, we have been able to accommodate couples in the twin rooms, and we will prioritize couples who request earlier unless there are people with specific needs who take priority.
Towels and bed sheets will be provided. Pillows will be provided only for people traveling interstate/internationally, and blankets will not be provided, so bring a blanket or sleeping bag. We don't expect things to get particularly cold at night this year, but it is best to be prepared.
Please coordinate which people you'd like to be in a cabin with before cabin ticket sales close as we will be confirming allocations shortly after.
Tent/camper tickets
Tent/camper tickets do not include tents or sleeping bags! Please bring your own tent or camper van.
These tickets do include a towel, but do not include pillows or linen.
Low income tickets
If your budget is a bit tight but still want to come, you can self-select to buy a low-income ticket. There are 10 low income tickets available total at a reduced price upon request. Please contact us at team@cauli.camp for a low income discount code.
Low Income Cabin - $350
Low Income Tent - $235
After the $70 discount, these tickets are more expensive than super early bird tickets, but cheaper than the regular early bird.
Contributor tickets
Contributor tickets are for those who would like to help cover the costs of the volunteer, early bird, and low income tickets, as well as boost the budget we have available for entertainment.
Contributor ticket purchases have an outsized impact on our budget, so we appreciate the support!
Vouchers for children and tpot organisers
We can give 5 vouchers for a 30% discount off the regular ticket price for children under 16 accompanied by parent(s) or guardian(s), and 5 vouchers for a 70% discount for organisers of other tpot community events.
Refunds and Transfers
Refunds are OK before Friday the 9th of January (which was when ticket sales were originally formally supposed to close), minus the transaction fees. The fees depend on the card used and the ticket type, but will not be more than AU$20 and is usually around half of that.
Transfers are also OK before ticket sales formally close (with no additional fee), but if you are transferring your ticket to someone else, you will need to rebook the ticket for them after receiving credit for the event. Transferred tickets are not refundable.
Food
At least half the food available will be vegan. Anything that isn't vegan will be limited to pasture-raised red meat, dairy, and eggs. The venue also has a no-nuts policy, so everything we serve will be nut-free (coconut is not considered a nut by the venue).
Please specify all your dietary requirements and preferences when you buy your ticket so we have a full understanding of how to cater to everyone. We prefer to err on the side of over-catering vegan food and not over-catering animal products.
As usual, Eliot and Chris will be leading the food preparation efforts, but we need volunteers to help out, so please be prepared to help with cooking at least one meal.
Yes, there will be cauliflower.

Rules
Like other tpot camps, we prefer to be light on rules, but there are always a few things we can be clear that we have zero tolerance for:
- Physical and sexual assault will not be tolerated
- No doxxing (i.e. no publicly revealing the name or personal details of someone without their consent)
- No publicly publishing of photos of any attendee without their consent
Identifying other forms of misconduct is at the discretion of the organizing team. We will ask you to leave without a refund if we deem it appropriate.
The venue itself also has some rules:
Alcohol
The venue requires us to have someone with a responsible service of alcohol (RSA) certificate serving alcohol only, and alcohol is only permitted in the dining hall and near the campfire.
You are free to bring your own alcohol, but it must be kept with us until the evenings. We strongly prefer you only bring bottles/cans of beer/cider/etc so that our volunteer does not have to do as much work pouring and mixing drinks.
Campfire and fire-related activities
Lighting fires (including for firespinning and similar activities) is subject to restrictions from the state government. Some days, the Illawarra/Shoalhaven region may be subject to a total fire ban announced the afternoon before, meaning we cannot light the campfire or allow any fire jam events to proceed.
This can be a problem in January, but we have had decent luck so far. We encourage anyone considering running events involving fire to be prepared for this, whether that be by being flexible about which day the event runs or byproviding alternatives to fire.
Campfires must be attended at all times, so the last person to leave a campfire needs to put it out.
Additionally, note that venue's policy is that smoking is only permitted at the camp fire area adjacent to the dining hall, and you must be 4 metres away from the entrance to the hall.
Noise restrictions
Amplified music is allowed outdoors until 11pm, and within the dining hall area until midnight. Any dance parties during the evenings will be held in the dining hall area, and doors and windows will be closed at 11pm. All noise needs to be kept to a minimum after midnight.
