❓ FAQs
Do I need to know how to dance?
Not at all—everything is taught and called.
What sort of dances will I do?
Our ceilidhs include a mix of social folk dances from Cornwall, Scotland, England and Wales, alongside a few from farther afield — and occasionally some original dances too.
Some dances are in pairs, others in groups or long sets, and you’ll often dance with different people as the evening goes on — though you’re welcome to stay with your own partner or group if you prefer.
Expect an evening that’s fun, varied, energetic and joyful, with great live music and plenty of laughter along the way.
What should I wear?
Anything comfortable you can move in. Low, comfy shoes are ideal. The floor is concrete (it is a barn).
The barn has open sides, so it’s worth checking the weather beforehand. October evenings can get chilly, so we highly recommend bringing some warm, cosy layers to wear between dances. Don't worry though—once the dancing gets going, you’ll warm up quickly!
Can I come on my own?
Yes—ceilidhs are very social and you’ll quickly be dancing with others.
Is there food and drink?
Yes—food available from 17:30 and a licensed bar throughout the evening.
Is it suitable for children?
Children are welcome. It's best suited to young people who’ll enjoy joining in with the dancing and be happy around a lively evening dancefloor. Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.
Parking?
Plenty available on site.
What is your ticket and refund policy?
We are so excited to have you join us! We know that life happens and plans can change, so we try to keep our ticket policy as fair and straightforward as possible for everyone.
- More than 7 days to go? If your plans change and you let us know at least 7 days before the event, we will happily give you a full refund (minus any non-refundable card processing and booking fees).
- Inside the 7-day window? Because we have to finalize numbers and event costs ahead of time, all ticket sales become final within 7 days of the event. We can’t offer refunds or credits past this point, even for unexpected surprises or emergency changes of plan.
- Pass it on to a friend: If you are inside that 7-day window and can no longer make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend! Just drop us an email so we can update the guest list for the door.
- If things change on our end: In the rare case that we have to cancel the event, you will automatically receive a full refund.
How to get in touch If you need a refund and are outside the 7-day window, just send a quick note over to ceilidh.cornwall@gmail.com. Please include your full name and order number so we can find you quickly. Once approved, the money will head back to your original payment method within 7 to 10 business days.
Will there be photos or videos taken?
Yes! We love capturing the fun, so we take photos and videos during the night to share on our social media and website.
Prefer not to be featured online? We want everyone to feel comfortable. However, because we don’t have a single designated photographer tracking everyone, finding and removing specific faces is a massive manual task for our small team. If you absolutely do not want to appear in any shared media, please snap a quick photo of yourself in your outfit on the night and email it to ceilidh.cornwall@gmail.com. We will use it as a guide to check our posts and make sure you are kept out of them.
